The department deals in treatment of various general surgical problems. Minor, Intermediate, Major, Supra major surgeries, High risk complex surgeries are done. Emergency surgery is tackled as early as possible.
Polytrauma cases are handled with absolute proficiency due to support from other auxiliary departments The department has the best infrastructure to deal with high risk and double high risk surgeries with the support of I.C..U, with excellent intensivists, who deliver post operative management with consummate skill and provide effective and judicious care. The department is also very well complimented with CT Scan, MRI with MRCP application .
OT is well equipped with advanced anaesthesia monitors, Electro surgical units, laproscopic unit,Harmonic scalpel etc. which enables us to perform complex GI cases.

The Section of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care is responsible for administration of the In-house trauma ward. Trauma patients are managed with a multi-disciplinary approach allowing for rational integration of many different specialties involved in providing care for these seriously injured individuals.
The members of this section are primarily responsible for the initial management of all injury victims brought to the Hospital. This includes the initial resuscitation, diagnostic evaluation and all operative management not handled by specialists in other surgical disciplines.
The Section of Surgical Oncology is responsible for providing care for GI, breast, soft tissue/ melanoma, and endocrine malignancies. State-of-the -art complex procedures such as pylorus-sparing, pancreatico - duodenectomy for pancreatic cancer, sphincter-sparing procedures, for low lying rectal cancers and minimally invasive diagnostic techniques are routinely performed.
Furthermore, innovative surgical procedures such as liver tumor injection therapy, sentinel node biopsy for melanoma and stereotactic breast biopsies are available. Cancer patients are managed with a multi-disciplinary approach for GI and Breast cancers through the multi-specialty resources available at the Hospital.
This provides an opportunity to discuss all the approaches, innovation and options available for treatment of these diseases. Most of this section's procedures are done on an outpatient basis viz. Breast and lymph node biopsy, venous access procedures and GI endoscopy.
